The Future: Next Generation of All-Electric Vehicles
Although there is only one Audi e-tron® model in the current lineup, Audi has big plans on the horizon for all-electric vehicle technology. There are three concept vehicles that Audi has in store for drivers who are interested in following the electric vehicle wave of the future. Vehicle release dates are to be determined.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) vs. Pure Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV)
Have you seen the terms PHEV and BEV, but have always wondered what they meant? PHEV stands for 'plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.' This means that PHEV models are powered by both gasoline and electricity. In order to recharge, the vehicle must be plugged into a charging port. The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron® is considered a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. BEV stands for 'pure battery electric vehicle,' which means that these models run strictly on electricity. The three concept vehicles mentioned above are considered pure battery electric vehicles.
