What the Critics Say

"A refresh wouldn't be complete without exterior revisions, though, and the e-tron sports revised front and rear fascias, including head- and taillights, that evolve the hatchback's attractive looks." - Car and Driver

"The regular A3 sedan is very likable car thanks to its upscale interior, some excellent technology features and an engaging driving experience. But there's only one way to get a hatchback Audi A3 in the United States, and that's to opt for the plug-in hybrid e-tron. This version of the A3 gets you more cargo space, higher fuel economy and 16 miles of all-electric driving." - Edmunds

2018 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron Plug-In Hybrid Charging

Plug-In Hybrid Technology

The elegantly designed complementary charger can top off your battery charge at home in just 2 hours and 15 minutes when you use a 240-volt power source. A standard 120-volt outlet takes about eight hours, ideal for overnight charging. Choose between three individual drive modes to maximize efficiency. EV mode allows you to drive solely on battery power, which is great for smooth responsive power on short commutes. In Hybrid mode, the vehicle will intelligently select the most effective power source -- the gasoline engine, the electric motor, or a combination of both. Battery Hold mode provides hybrid driving while helping to preserve EV range for later use. The charge port on the A3 Sportback e-tron is cleverly hidden behind the Four Ring Design Audi logo in the Singleframe® grille, making it effortless to charge no matter which side of the vehicle the charger is on.

Innovative Technology

The available Audi virtual cockpit boasts a 12.3 inch fully digital driver-focused information cluster that projects navigation, radio, and other media in outstanding clarity. Available MMI® touch uses a touch-sensitive scroll, giving drivers the ability to control a range of vehicle systems effortlessly. The 2018 A3 Sportback e-tron features the optional Audi connect® system with technologies including Google Earth™ with 3D satellite imagery, Twitter integration, local traffic updates, a Wi-Fi hotspot with 4G LTE connectivity for up to eight passenger devices, and more.

Advanced Safety

Available on the 2018 A3 Sportback e-tron is Audi side assist with Rear cross traffic alert. This advanced system incorporates optical warning and radar sensors to alert you of potential danger. It can also help you maneuver out of a tight parking space, keeping you safe from the unexpected. Available Audi active lane assist can detect if your A3 Sportback e-tron is drifting out of its lane without the use of a turn signal and assist the driver in guiding the vehicle back on its intended path. Another optional feature is Audi adaptive cruise control with stop & go. This system can maintain a fixed distance to the vehicle in front, while also helping to stop or accelerate your Audi according to traffic conditions.
